Canadas Best Vacation Destinations In Banff

Banff is Canadas oldest National Park, a landmark that marks it as a vital part of its history and shows its commitment to beauty and nature.  Many don’t know as much about this area as they should and assume it’s just for skiing and sledding.  Although these are fantastic sports to enjoy in the winter, Banff is amazing year-round.

These are the top reasons Banff is amazing, and why everyone should visit.

Spring

Spring comes late in Banff, not melting until late March and early April.  Luckily for those who live here, Spring is the most beautiful season to be here.  As the snow melts away, greenery is revealed.  The snow hydrates the soil, and endless trees, grass, and plants burst out from it as it melts away.

With it, wildlife emerges, and birds come back from their long travel south.  Being in Banff in Spring allows you to watch as the earth thaws out around you.  It’s beautiful and worth grabbing up some Banff homes for sale just to witness it each and every year.

Summer

Believe it or not, despite being known as a major skiing destination, the summers in Banff are the second busiest season behind winter!  In the summer, the trails open up for biking and hiking, the rivers are available for everything from inner tubing to swimming: and the city is lively with festivals and parades.

Summer in Banff feels like a true vacation.  You can be as active as you want to be, or you can lounge by the lakes and enjoy soaking in the views and sunshine.  Although you obviously can’t ski this time of year, it’s worth giving that up for everything else you gain.

Fall

When the weather turns and the air becomes crisp once more, fall is heading in.  Autumn in Banff is cozy and comfortable.  The trails stay open, allowing you to enjoy walking and biking as much as you want without getting too hot, and camping hits its stride.  The leaves in the fall are gorgeous and turn beautiful shades of gold and red unlike anything else you’ve ever seen.

Later in fall, when the snow starts to fall, the city is at its emptiest, and you can enjoy traveling for much cheaper.

Winter

Finally, winter comes, and Banff hits its stride.  Winter vacations in Banff offer a perfect balance between high-energy entertainment and relaxing breaks.  Skiing fills the days of many who visit, keeping them active and excited. Then, in the evenings, they can melt away the frost from the day in the natural hot springs.

Delicious local restaurants turn their menus towards comfort foods and warm wonders, and many lakes freeze over open as ice skating rinks.  In the winter, the mountains are breathtakingly beautiful, snow allowing their natural stone to show through like art.  Winter is when Banff is at its absolute best.

The Bottom Line

Banff is fantastic year-round because of the area itself, not because of the weather.  Every inch of this mountain range, with rivers and valleys, tucked in between, offers something you can’t find anywhere else.  It’s worth a visit and can make even the most experienced traveler feel like they’ve found the best place on earth.
