Where to Stay, Play, & Eat in Port Aransas

If you are looking for the best places to stay, play, & eat in Port Aransas, Texas then you are in the right place! Port Aransas is located right off the Gulg of Mexico, just around 9 hrs South of OKC.

Where To Stay

There are many hotels, airbnbs, and campgrounds located in the area but we found that the campground IB Magee offered the best experience. Located right on the beach, you are just seconds away from the water making multiple visits during the day easy and hassle free.

Right now, while they are in the process of rebuilding their camp facilities, you can camp with full hookups for $206/week.

We loved being able to wake up and walk the shore first thing each morning seeing what washed up onto the beach. Swimming in the afternoon, and exploring at night. We were able to see everything from Dolphins to crabs each day. Plus some beautiful Portugese Man o’ Wars.

Where To Play

Some of the fun things that we did besides just explore the beach was to drive around and sight see of course. Exploring the neighboring islands, shopping at the souvenier shops, riding the ferry, and visitng the USS Lexington.

Checking out the Lexington museum took us about 3 hrs to fully explore. There was so much to see and learn that it could take even longer if you read everything. Along with our entrance to the museum we purchased tickets to do their escape room, Lockdown on the Lex. While not our favorite or best experience with an escape room, we enjoyed the fact that this was on the ship and in actual rooms there.

Where To Eat

Probably my favorite part to share with you is the places we ate and the fun places to grab a drink here.

We made the short trip into Corpus Christi and ate at Docs on the waters edge. Here we had one of the more expensive meals of the whole trip. Steak and fresh seafood and of course drinks. I had their tiki drink in a pail and it was delicious!

We also went to Padre Island Burger Company and had some delicious and creative burgers! I got the Padre burger and my husband ordered the enchilada burger. So tasty and a fun enviornment.

In Port A itself we dined at MacDaddy’s and Vriginias. MacDaddy’s offered burgers and bbq and also had a margarita flight. Virginias is an open patio restaurant located right over the water. We enjoyed trying some of the local restaurants and wish we could have tried even more places.

Where To Drink

Some of the fun places we went to grab a drink were Port-A-Beer-Hut, Lelo’s, & The Gaff! Port-A-Beer-Hut offers the fun beach vibe with a tiki bar with swings! For drinks with fun presentation, you will want to check out Lelo’s! I got the Mermaid Water in the conch shell. We had the most fun at The Gaff though. Live music, fun atmosphere, and great company!
