Mother Daughter Dallas Shopping Trip

baby turns 13

My baby girl turned 13! I still can’t believe it. When planning for her birthday this year; I knew I wanted to do something extra special.

We discussed birthday parties with friends and family but when I suggested a shopping trip she jumped at the idea. So being the type A person that I am. I started planning everything out.

I knew there was a couple places that we wanted to eat at; In-N-Out and Sugar Factory. We also knew we wanted to go to NorthPark Center Mall. So then we picked where we wanted to stay. I looked at several hotels but we ultimately decided to go with an AirBnB and Im so happy with our decision.

Dallas Shopping Trip-Day 1

We left bright and early on a Wednesday (I like midweek trips to avoid crowds and traffic) and made the 3.5 hr trek to Dallas. Our first stop was In-N-Out located right outside of Dallas in Denton. We love their burgers, especially animal style, and had to make this a priority in our trip since we dont have one near us otherwise.

Next up was the mall; we arrived at NorthPark Center and began our shopping adventure. Our first store was Mac. Since my daughter turned 13 she is now able to wear makeup. Here she got an mini eye makeup makeover. They were so helpful and nice! They walked her through every step and showed her what to do. The eyeshadow was perfect so we had to get it. A great neutral starter kit! We then went to Sephora and got some mini mascaras for her to try out.

After walking around the mall and looking at several stores but not really finding anything else we went to our final store in the mall; Bite Beauty. Here we had custom lipsticks made for us! The process took about an hour from start to finish. 30 mins for both of us to get our lipstick colors and then 30 minutes for it to be made. They do take walk-ins but appointments are definitely recommended.

After the mall, we went to dinner at Sugar Factory. Located downton in Dallas, its a glamorous restaurant with floral walls, chandeliers, and extravagant food and drinks. I’ll be honest, you are going for the environment, not the food. The food did not stand up to my expectations BUT my kid loved it there. We got their rainbow mini sliders, fries, and a giant milkshake. We also visited their candy store and grabbed some sweets to take back with us.

Where We Stayed

So after our full day of running around we were finally headed to the AirBnB for the night. The AirBnB that we stayed at was located in Downtown Dallas, The Emerald Escape. It was a full 1 bedroom/bathroom unit inside a condo. It had a huge shared pool, gym, and a beautiful courtyard. The unit itself is so beautiful with lush green velvet couches and a fun IG backdrop! The hosts are absolutely the best and went above and beyond by getting my daughter balloons for her birthday, plus they got me champagne because they said she couldnt be the only one to celebrate! They were just the best!

My daughter was so surprised by the balloons and we loved how glamorous the unit was. We had a relaxing night watching movies and snacking before turning in for the night.

Dallas Shopping Trip-Day 2

Started the next day off with just a small breakfast that we brought and then headed out of Dallas to Gainsville to explore their mall. We walked around and grabbed a small snack of boba tea and garlic parm french fries before really shopping. The Buckle and Windsor is where my kid found what she was looking for. Some jeans and some tops and I tapped out. haha

From here, we made a stop at Buccee’s, because how could we not, right? So much hype about this place…and I have to say it was definitely incredible. I havent seen a gas station like that before! So big! We grabbed some road trip provisionals and then headed home.

This was an absolute amazing trip and Im so thankful that we were able to do this. The memories we have made here and the tradition that we started and I hope to continue throughout the rest of her life.

She’s already planning where we should go next year!
